Census 2010

It is Census YEAR, time to be counted!

The US Census is important not only on a political platform of counting legislative representation, and district proportioning, but it is what drives each state to earn large portion of its funding for public works, security, education, transportation, health care, and ensure a better life for the individuals of that state.

There are many issues at stake this year!

BE COUNTED!

Any questions, please contact,Marcony Almeida, Director of Organizing, at malmeida@miracoalition.org, or Filipe Zamborlini, Field Organizer, at fzamborlini@miracoalition.org.

Civic participation is our duty.

It's Safe!

The information you disclose to the Census will not be used for any purposes other than those already assigned to the Census; to count the people in order to distribute funds for education, roads, health, public services, and several other services the state offers its people!

Every individual working for the Census and who will see the information you provide in the Census Form is sworn in to a lifetime oath under Title 13 of the U.S. Code. This means no individual or body has access to the more specific information you send the Census Bureau, such as your address, and full name!

Your information is KEPT SECURE AND PRIVATE!

And remember this:

By law, the Census Bureau cannot share your answers with anyone, including the Internal Revenue Service, Immigration
and Customs Enforcement, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Central Intelligence Agency or any other government agency. All Census Bureau employees take the oath of nondisclosure and are sworn for life to protect the confidentiality of the data. The penalty for unlawful disclosure is a fine of up to $250,000 or imprisonment of up to five years, or both.

Mission and Partners

In partnership with the Access Strategies/MA Census Equity Fund, the Portuguese Speakers Complete Count Committee, Boston Complete Count Committee, Ya Es Hora!, and Allies, MIRA Coalition urges the immigrant community to return a filled Census form and participate 100% of the 2010 Census!

However we do not do this alone!

MIRA Coalition is working in partnership with two member organizations in the front of this year's Census work. The Cleghorn Neighborhood Center, Located in Fitchburg, and Agencia ALPHA, located in Boston, will be the collaborating to ensure that the Hard to Count communities in the areas of Fitchburg, South Boston, Dorchester, Roxbury and other surrounding areas are counted properly!

Get Counted!

Remember, add to your calendar, save the date, tell your friends - APRIL  FIRST 2010 IS CENSUS DAY!

It is important that on that day all forms be mailed (postage is paid already by Census Bureau). On the forms make sure EVERYONE living on the home on April 1st is included to be counted!

Babies count!
Temporary Residents count!
The Elderly count!
Everyone Counts!

Remember to fill in with all information, and that ll is secure. If you need assistance filling in the forms, assistance centers will be open across the nation in hard to count neighborhoods, as well as Be Counted Centers where those who feel they were not counted on the form sent home can get a separate form for themselves to make sure they were counted!

For questions or information surrounding the Census 2010 feel free to Contact MIRA Coalition Census Outreach Coordinator, Filipe Zamborlini, 617-350-5480 x200 or at fzamborlini@miracoalition.org!
It is Simple! Different from the previous Long Census in 2000, the 2010 Census is small, and to the point. Do not mistake this form with other annual count made by states in order to learn the more specifics about the communities living in each state. This National Census is IMPORTANT and simple!
