Javier joined MIRA in January 2021 as Director of Development. He oversees all fundraising and stewardship efforts on behalf of the organization. Through collaboration with the philanthropic community, Javier will help to grow the capacity of resources to the organization and its annual fund campaigns. 

Javier is a DACAmented advancement professional from Providence, RI and a native of Peru. Throughout his professional career Javier has been a frontline organizer, advocate and fundraiser for the betterment of immigrant rights. Recently serving as the Executive Director for the Providence Student Union (PSU), Javier systemized new development infrastructure for the organization to maximize donorship, advocacy and engagement to build youth power in the Providence Public School System. Before joining PSU, Javier served as the Donor Engagement Officer at the largest community college in New England – The Community College of RI (CCRI). 

Javier is a Dream Lead Fellow, a TEDx speaker and was the first DACAmented person to graduate in the Master’s program of American Studies in Brown University’s history. Javier was given the opportunity to share his story as the Graduate Student Orator during commencement in 2018. You can see his powerful commencement speech here.
