This week, the Massachusetts legislature took aim against federal attacks on our immigrant communities.

The House passed an annual budget that included $5M to fund legal representation for low-income immigrants facing deportation proceedings – a first in Massachusetts! Read more here

The Senate spoke up for immigrant communities as well. You can watch Senator Sal DiDomenico give his speech here

In federal policy:

The Supreme Court issued an order barring the Trump Administration from deporting Venezuelans under the Alien Enemies Act. This is the same law under which the Trump Administration deported more than 200 Venezuelans to El Salvador without any due process.

The Trump Administration walked back the revocation of more than 1,500 student visas, though it leaves. This shows both that resistance works and that our federal government actions are chaotic.

A federal judge in California issued an order prohibiting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) from conducting stops without reasonable suspicion and warrantless arrests without probable cause.
