An ICE agent accused of ramming a construction worker with his SUV surrendered to Texas authorities on Monday. Harris County prosecutors charged Mario Alberto Morales with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for striking Miguel Parra Hernandez with his vehicle after a brief chase through a parking lot. Following a pattern we’ve seen repeatedly, ICE initially accused Mr. Hernandez of jumping in front of the vehicle, but this claim was contradicted by video evidence. Mr. Morales has only worked for the agency for about a year, raising further questions about the quality of vetting and training during ICE’s recent hiring spree. Harris County officials are also continuing their investigation of the fatal shooting of Lorenzo Salgado Araujo by an ICE agent in July.
