Laura Perras

Communications Director

Laura (she/her) came to MIRA in 2024 after a focused search for a role that would intersect her passion for marketing and making an impact on human safety, dignity, and connection. A graduate of Skidmore College, she has lived in multiple cities and countries, working in communications, graphic design, and marketing across multiple industries.

As Director of Communications, Laura leads MIRA’s communications strategy and serves as steward of the organization’s brand and narrative voice. Since taking on the role, she has implemented new communications management systems, launched a weekly blog and livestream series, and is currently leading an organization-wide rebrand, working with external vendors to update MIRA’s visual branding, brand messaging, and website.

She manages a small team, and together they are responsible for providing hands-on support for materials and communications across every department and event, maintaining MIRA’s email communications, newsletter, social media, livestream and video work, print materials, website, and annual impact video and report. She tracks communications performance and analytics, listening and adapting to the community and policy landscape to uplift MIRA’s programs, resources, impact, and media appearances.

MIRA has been an amazing opportunity to be a part of real and meaningful change, while constantly evolving and learning about policy, messaging, narrative, and strategy, while learning from the staff she is lucky to work with and the community she is grateful to be serving.

Committed to furthering equity and anti-racism and protecting the environment, Laura actively contributes to her community by serving on the board of the Brookline Education Foundation, participating in the local public K-8 school community through involvement in the PTO and Equity PAC, and planting pollinator gardens in public spaces with fellow Pollinator Pathway volunteers.

Laura speaks fluent Spanish and enjoys yoga, reading, gardening, and DJing.
