Federal court orders USCIS to process applications that had been put on hold (6/8/2026)
- Last week, a federal judge ordered USCIS to resume processing of applications that it had put on hold.
- In January 2026, USCIS stopped making decisions on applications submitted by individuals from 40 countries listed in the June and December 2025 “travel bans.” This affected many types of applications, including for green cards, DACA, work permits and more.
- The federal judge found that this stop in processing was unlawful and ordered USCIS to continue reviewing and deciding those applications.
- However, we do not yet know if USCIS is following this court order. In addition, the Trump Administration is expected to appeal this decision.
