MIRA Coalition Responds To the Trump administration’s recent decision to terminate Haiti’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation (Spanish and Haitian Creole Translations available)

In response to the Trump administration’s recent decision to terminate Haiti’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation, Elizabeth Sweet, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy (MIRA) Coalition, issued the following statement:

“Ending Temporary Protected Status for the half a million Haitians that have fled horrific violence and persecution in their home country is dangerous and short-sighted. Across the country – but especially here in Massachusetts – Haitian immigrants have proven incredibly valuable members of the community. With lawsuits sure to follow shortly, we urge the courts to strike down this harmful move, and support the hundreds of thousands of Haitian immigrants who have strengthened America.”
