Catherine Kannam
Catherine Kannam (she/her/hers) is a Staff Attorney for MIRA’s Immigrant Assistance Services (IAS) program.
She earned her B.A. from Dartmouth College and J.D. from Boston University School of Law. Throughout law school, Catherine focused on immigration law, serving as a Student Attorney for Boston University’s Immigrants’ Rights Clinic and working at the Department of Justice in the Executive Office of Immigration Review. She interned for the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, working alongside judges as they came to decisions on immigration appeals.
Catherine received the Clinical Legal Education Association (CLEA) award, which recognized the quality of her work product and dedication to clients in the immigration clinic. In addition, Boston University’s Public Interest Law Journal selected Catherine’s Note for publication, which examined the plight of unaccompanied minors without representation in immigration court. Following law school, Catherine deepened her understanding of the judicial system by clerking on the Connecticut Supreme Court for Justice Gregory T. D’Auria.
