Position Summary: The Boston NAIP AmeriCorps member at BCNC will be responsible for providing

  1. ESOL conversation classes.
  2. Citizenship classes to immigrants eligible for U.S. naturalization.
  3. Job readiness services for beginner to intermediate Adult Education and job training students.

They will also be responsible for related lesson planning, intake, and administrative tasks.

The Quincy NAIP AmeriCorps members will serve BCNC adult education students in several ways:

  1. Provide advising services to beginning-level English speaking students (up to 100 of these).
  2. Teach a weekly online English conversation class (to beginning-level English speakers).
  3. Teach at least one cycle of citizenship preparation classes per year.
  4. Assist as interpreter with staff communications with lower-level students as needed.
  5. Participate in Adult Ed team meetings and other tasks as needed.

Preferred languages: proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Spanish, French, Vietnamese, and/or Portuguese.

Weekly Schedule: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday; daily variability acceptable and negotiable NAIP members receive a midday lunch break, schedule to be negotiated with individuals.

Position Summary: Members will be in charge to help low-income, underserved Haitian and other immigrants adults and youth to achieve self-sufficiency. We offer educational and vocational programs for adults and youth, immigration and access to housing, jobs, health care, etc.

Position Summary: With the support of EAL staff and volunteers, the AmeriCorps Member will manage program enrollment and facilitate the delivery of instructional groups and events in the Career Access Lab. The Member will also have the opportunity to contribute to other projects and instructional programs that help local immigrants gain the skills and confidence they need to achieve their life goals.

Weekly Schedule: The general weekly schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, with some flexibility. To accommodate the scheduling needs of program participants, some evening hours may be required. If evening hours are required, the Member will be encouraged to flex their time to achieve an optimal work/life balance.

Position Summary: Career and Cultural Guides (2): Provide Employment Orientation and Cultural Orientation to newcomers. English for Employment (EFE) Specialists (4): Provide support for 6 hours per week of in-person instruction to literacy level learners or other new arrivals (20 students per class), as well as one-on one interview practice to clients. ESOL Volunteer Specialists (2): Recruit and train volunteers on Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), Student Achievement in Reading (StAR), and Evidence-Based Reading Instruction (EBRI) best practices. Provide one-on-one tutoring for students who have taken one post assessment and have not made a Student Performance Level (SPL), as well as 1 to 2 hours of tutoring per week by using Burlington English or StAR EBRI materials. One Career and Culture Guide, two EFE Specialists, and one ESOL Volunteer Specialist will report for service in Boston, and the other members will report for service in Lowell.

Weekly Schedule: The schedule for all roles is Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hybrid options will be available.

Position Summary: The AmeriCorps members work collaboratively with staff to address refugee, asylee, and immigrant participants’ barriers to employment with the goal of creating opportunities for individuals to achieve economic self-sufficiency and growth. Members are responsible for supporting a variety of areas which may include client outreach and enrollment, career coaching, referrals and case management to reduce employment barriers, and/or assisting with vocational skills or ESOL programs through one-on-one and group instruction.

Position Summary: (2) Americorps members will support newly arrived immigrants with the MGH Center for Immigrant Health (1 member) and the MGH Asylum Clinic (1 member) to connect to public benefits, community organizations, and legal resources to ensure their basic needs are met, and to support individuals and families to progress towards their goals, which often include improving their immigration status with an eventual goal of citizenship, improving their English language skills, and obtaining new or better employment.

Weekly Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm including 60 minutes of break time daily, with occasional evening or weekend hours to accommodate special events. Option for hybrid work 2 days per week if preferable and conditions for remote work are met.

Languages Requirements: Must be bilingual, Asylum Clinic strongly prefers Spanish, Center for Immigrant Health prefers Spanish or Haitian Creole.

Position Summary: Citizenship team members at MIRA assist clients on their path to citizenship from beginning to end, screening them for eligibility, working on their application, answering questions, and staying in touch until they become citizens. They also provide referrals to the general public, work on personal projects that contribute to the Citizenship Program and help with the planning and logistics as necessary.

Weekly Schedule: M-F 9:00-5:00 with some flexibility

✨Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS) (East Boston)

Position Summary: The 2024 NAIP AmeriCorps member will provide direct support to MLCS’s Digital Literacy, ESOL, & Adult Education Instructors, by co-facilitating courses/programming and collaborating on curriculum development. Further, the AmeriCorp member will help support our food distribution program, where we sort, bag, and distribute 210 food bags to community members every Wednesday. This is a role serving on a small, nimble team, with lots of community collaboration and hands-on community service.

Weekly Schedule: This is a very flexible role. Our offices are open from 9am to 7pm and our staff come and go at a variety of times. Our ESOL classes are usually happening during the evening hours, so 11am-7pm shifts are likely to be a part of the Americorp members schedule.

Languages Requirements: Spanish speakers are encouraged to apply, but there is no requirement! There are also a lot of Arabic and Chinese speaking community members so folks who speak those languages are also encouraged to apply.

Position Summary:

  1. Teach one ESOL class 2 days a week in person with asynchronous support one day, with prep time (required)
  2. Teach one 2 hour citizenship class during the day and one two-hour class at night, with prep time (optional to build hours)
  3. Maintain MUA’s Facebook page and assist with student outreach and recruitment (optional to build hours)
  4. Assist receptionist during busy times and in securing student paperwork and documentation for job training program (optional to build hours)
  5. Help to coordinate two small events a year for MUA, such as International Women’s Day or Mother’s Day (optional to build hours)

Weekly Schedule: The schedule will be ideally 9a.m.-5p.m. Monday-Thursday for Americorps members, with some flexibility such as 8:30a.m.-4:30pm. if that is easier, depending on where the member lives. Members can also do 1-2 nights and/or Friday remotely with minimal supervision to fill hours. If MUA is closed for vacation/holidays, the member has the option to do remote work to make up the hours, such as lesson planning and outreach. MUA prefers that members take their own vacations during MUA’s scheduled closures if possible, i. e. the Thanksgiving break or December holidays.

Position Summary: NAIP member will assist aspiring American citizens to fill out citizenship applications and associated forms and processes, prepare clients for interviews and respond to requests for evidence, as well as assist in teaching citizenship components of in-house accreditation training (of course the NAIP member is welcome to take the entire training program) and conduct outreach and popular education/know-your-rights training on citizenship-related matters.

Weekly Schedule: Flexible but on site in Beverly and around the North Shore/ Middlesex county

Position Summary: The main responsibilities of the member as the Citizenship Coordinator will be overseeing the current and expansion of the online and in person citizenship program including the English for Citizenship program, recruiting and training volunteers, securing new sites, setting up classes, developing a comprehensive database of Citizenship resources and maintaining the student database which tracks students’ progress towards being eligible for the naturalization process.
